The realistic depiction of three excellent sources of vitamin C invites the viewer to reach out and
touch the fruits. Loran Speck, a contemporary American artist, draws inspiration from the
realists of the Renaissance. The commentary on page
423 by Padayatty and Levine raises important issues in the continuing debate on therapy of
neoplasia with high-dose ascorbic acid. "Oranges, Lemons, and Strawberries" is reproduced
with permission of the Loran Speck Gallery, Carmel, California.
