A Chinese terra cotta soldier (14.5 inches) with helmet, long tunic and hands ina spear-clasping position. The figure dates to the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) after the building of the Great Wall and the period when tofu, a mainstay of the Oriental diet, is claimed to have originated in Huainan, China, 178-122BC, also a period when Buddhism, a faith endorsing vegetarianism, was making significant inroads in China.
