On the Cover: Dogon sculpture from Mali has distinguishing characteristics such as an elongated torso, prominent jawlines and dark or natural wood colors. Although popular in the West, the meaning of Dogon is often are not well understood by Westerners. For example, images of hermaphrodites are common.
