On the cover: Foods commonly eaten for breakfast differ over time, place, and with many other factors. Most research finds that breakfast eating is associated with better daily nutritional profile and with weight control. See the paper by Cho et al. (pg 296). "Breakfast with Ham" (1643) is an oil on wood by the Dutch artist, Pieter Claesz (1597-1661) who, along with William Claesz Heda, were considered the leading proponents of the ontbijt or breakfast piece school of painting centered in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
