About the Cover

Cover Figure

Canales et al. (pp. 225-232) found walnut-enriched meat improved the antioxidant status of individuals at increased risk of CHD. Despite their high energy content, walnuts also appear to be suitable for overweight and obese individuals as they did not affect body weight. Walnuts are a widely consumed and popular food, present nearly universally in temperate zone areas. The wood of the walnut has also been greatly valued, especially in furniture and cabinet making and in the making of gunstocks, the first for the beauty of its markings and the latter for its elasticity and strength. The cover image is by AndonicO, an administrator for the Wikipedia, who frequently uploads his own photography to the encyclopedia. The image, "Two Juglans Regia Walnuts," is a featured picture, identified by Wikipedia community members as one of the finest images on the English Wikipedia, adding significantly to its accompanying article, "Walnut." The photographer grants permission to copy, distribute and/or modify the image under the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version.
