IN MEMORIAM |
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of our founder and friend, Dr. Mildred Seelig. Dr. Seelig became ill shortly after returning from an overseas trip to India, Thailand, and Taiwan and passed away following open heart surgery on January 14, 2005.
It is the wish of the family that, in lieu of flowers or other memorials, contributions be made to the Seelig Magnesium Fund, which will be renamed in honor of both Mildred and her beloved husband, Alex. Contributions designated for this fund can be mailed to the ACN office and will be listed in a future program for the Seelig Magnesium Lecture.
We are planning a special session in tribute to Dr. Seelig at the next annual meeting, September 2225, 2005 at the Kiawah Island Resort and will also dedicate a future issue of the journal in her honor. The College has lost an irreplaceable mentor and advocate but her enthusiasm for academic endeavor and her warm collegiality are influences that will be felt in the organization for many years to come.
Most sincerely,
Connie W. Bales, PhD, FACN, RD, CNS
President, American College of Nutrition
